Reception at Assunta Schools for Martin Jacques

Life at the two Assunta schools in Petaling Jaya has finally returned to normal following the disruptions wrought by the pandemic. Martin Jacques, the chair of the Harinder Veriah Trust, visited both schools between 8-13 June while on a special visit to KL. He met the Headteacher at the Primary School and other members of staff and attended a special welcoming ceremony at which he met all the HVT girls. The following week he met members of staff and the HVT girls at the Secondary School. Over 20 girls were present and they all spoke movingly about how the support the Trust gives them has helped improve their lives and education.

The photo includes Shariza Noordin (far left), who leads the Trust’s work in Malaysia, two of the HVT volunteer tutors, and six of the HVT supported girls, all of whom spoke eloquently about what HVT meant for them. The girl in the yellow shirt gave a very moving speech about her life and the huge problems she has faced.

Thank You...

“Firstly, I like thank the HVT programme. They have helped my family by giving me uniforms, school shoes, meals on a daily basis during recess and revision books to study. The tuition has helped me improve my writing skills and I am better at my school work. I would also like to thank the teachers for teaching me how to be successful in school.”
