Distribution of School Uniforms

Jeannie Choke, a member of the Trust’s team in Malaysia, writes:

Good evening from Kuala Lumpur.

The distribution of school uniforms, shoes, stationery and bags under the HVT programme was carried out this morning (6th December 2014) from 10.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m.

Parents started to come in with their daughters as early as 9.15 a.m, even though the stated time was 10.00 a.m. The parents and girls were eager to get the new uniforms.

Under the efficient leadership of Shariza, the stations were set up almost immediately and we started with the distribution at 9.30 a.m. as many parents were already waiting. With the assistance of HVT teachers Angela, Adelene, Jeannie and some friends who volunteered to help, the distribution proceeded smoothly and ended before 12 noon.

Zulita was also there to have individual counselling sessions with the parents and their daughters. I can say all the parents were thankful and grateful for this aid extended by HVT.

The free school uniforms, sport attire, socks, shoes, stationery and bags received saved each family of at least RM250 for a schooling child. For these family who earn meagre income, a savings of RM250 means putting many simple meals on the table or even paying for utility bills.

I was sure Harinder was watching over us from above as the weather was miraculously cooling after a morning downpour. And the rain stopped in time for the distribution to be carried out.

Thank You...

“The HVT teachers are very kind. HVT gives us uniforms, school bags, books and stationery. HVT helps students who are poor.”
