What We Do
Harinder Veriah
This film was made in 2002. After Hari’s death, a campaign was launched in Hong Kong for anti-racist legislation. In July 2008 Hong Kong finally introduced an anti-racist law, a direct response to Hari’s death. Hari’s husband Martin and son Ravi also took legal action against the Hospital Authority for clinical negligence. Despite a decade of repeated denials from the Hospital Authority that it had any responsibility for Hari’s death, the Hospital Authority finally capitulated just days before the matter was to be heard at the Hong Kong High Court and a settlement was reached in March 2010.
Thank You...
“Firstly, I like thank the HVT programme. They have helped my family by giving me uniforms, school shoes, meals on a daily basis during recess and revision books to study. The tuition has helped me improve my writing skills and I am better at my school work. I would also like to thank the teachers for teaching me how to be successful in school.”
